Graduated from the Faculty of Letters at Ritsumeikan University and obtained a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences at the same university.
After being a postdoctoral fellow with the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science, she is now an Associate Professor at the School of Law of Waseda University. Her pioneering research on the nikkeijin or descendants of Japanese people in Latin America has been very influential in academic circles both in Japan and in Latin America, as shown by her success at the COPANI Conference in Buenos Aires. She is committed to spreading knowledge about the nikkeijin community and serving as a bridge between Japan and the Latin American countries.
